A couple months ago Julie posted about her new pincushion pattern called Biscuit. I recently got the pattern and decided to make this pincushion for my partner in the For the Love of Solids Swap 2. I still have to make my partners large item but I thought this would be a cute item to give her.
First of all let me say that the directions are ridiculously good. At no point did I question what was being done or why. I never had to go back and re-read a step. I've had trouble in the past with patterns but I will never have to worry about any of Julies'. Yes, I know we're friends and all but I'm telling you her directions are THAT good! Plus this was finished in less than 30 minutes.
I did make one little change. The pattern calls for 2 different fabrics and I decided to use 4. Now the pincushion is kinda reversible.
I didnt have any fiberfill or walnut shells so I took some batting scraps and cut them into about 1/2" pieces using my rotary cutter. This was a great way to use up some of those weird size pieces of batting.
Have you made anything quick any easy recently?
Thanks for telling us what you put in as a filler. I've seen so many cute pin cushions, but no one mentions what they put inside of them. Looks cute!
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I head that lizard bedding is crushed walnut shells if you have a pet shop nearby (and want to make more pincushions!)
ReplyDeleteIt's cute! Great use of scrap batting too. I never would have thought to stuff a pin cushion with it.
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I need a new pincushion so maybe I'll try this one out. I love the solids!
